About Our School

front

Welcome to Foster Elementary! Foster Elementary has over a half-century of tradition servicing the
residential area of the Allied Gardens community. In fact, tradition is so strong that many of our parents
attended Foster years ago. The school stands on an 8.5-acre site, with full-site air-conditioning currently being installed.

At Foster, we spark wonder, foster dreams, and become more than we ever imagined! Our mission is that all our students will graduate with the skills, motivation, curiosity, and resilience to succeed in their choice of college and career in order to lead and participate in the society of tomorrow. We have built a
strong foundation for student achievement. Foster's diverse students, staff, and community
believe that we must address not only the academic needs of each student but the social, emotional, and
physical needs as well. Our school represents a highly experienced and professional workforce engaged
in regular professional development that offers a balanced curriculum aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Upper-grade teachers are GATE certified, and we offer the cluster model integrating all students in every class.

Foster is a Title I School, with 10 percent of our students attending through the School Choice program.
We have 15 general education classes (including transitional and early transitional kindergarten),
four special education classes, a science lab, and a state-of-the-art computer room.
Foster offers physical education classes twice a week for all students through the YMCA PLAY program, regular
art studies through partnerships with ArtReach and Arts For Learning, and choir music for
upper-grade students. Additional programs include the Foster Running Club, the Everyone a Reader tutoring
program, after- school teaching and enrichment, Glee Club, PrimeTime and SAY child care, and Saturday Opportunity School.
