School Site Council (SSC)

The SSC is responsible for reviewing and approving our school's use of certain funds related primarily to academic issues. The SSC reviews academic data, and determines how best to adjust spending priorities to improve the education offered to Foster Elementary students. The SSC also takes part in the creation of our school's Comprehensive School Safety Plan and Foster's Site Plan for Student Achievement.

SSC meetings are at 2.30pm after school (usually 15-30 minutes long) on the following Mondays for the 2021-22 school year:

Site Governance Team (SGT)

The purpose of the SGT is to ensure that teachers, parents, and administration work together on important issues involving students. Thyese include issues related to instructional programs, staffing, the use of our physical facilities, school dress code, discipline and parent communication. The SGT also may make recommendations to the SSC on budgetary matters related to ensuring academic achievement.

SGT meetings are immediately following the SSC, starting around 2.50pm after school (usually 30-45 minutes long) on the following  Mondays for the  school year:

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

ELAC advises the SSC on the development of the Site Plan for Student Achievement in regards to English learners and reviews the school's annual language census (R-30 LC Report). Finally, ELAC conducts a Site Englist Leaner Needs Assessment.

ELAC meetings are combined with the SSC meetings (usually 30 minutes long) on the following Mondays for the 2021-22 school year:

District-Level Committees

Career Technical Education Advisory Committee (CTEAC)
Develops recommendations on the College, Career and Technical Education program and provides the liaison between the district and potential employers. Learn more .

Compensatory Education Programs, District Advisory Council (DAC)
Advisory group of elected representatives from Title I schools that consult with the district on behalf of compensatory education program participants.

District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)
Advises the Board of Education and district staff on programs and services for English Learners. Learn more .

Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) District Advisory Committee
Advises central office staff on GATE program development, planning and implementation as required by state law; acts as regional liaison to school sites for development of gifted programs; reviews district program objectives, activities, budget timelines and annual evaluations. Independent Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC)
Citizens" advisory group created to monitor Proposition S implementation and expenditures. ICOC meetings are open to the public and regulated by the Brown Act. Learn more.

Special Education, Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for
Advises the SDUSD Board of Education and the Special Education administration on the implementation of the Local Plan, which describes how the district provides services to students with exceptional needs. Learn more.

Utilization of Excess School Property, Advisory Committee for (ACUESP)
Board-appointed citizens" advisory group authorized to consider proposals and develop recommendations regarding property owned by the school district. Learn more.
